EE Templates is now EE Design

I have relaunched the EE Templates site as “EE Design” with a new look!  Welcome!

I decided to get a separate domain and rename the site to EE Design since I felt that name more accurately described what I am trying to accomplish with this site.  The templates are an important part of this site, and always will be, but I wanted to emphasize that this site (hopefully) will be more than just the templates—I would like to make this site one that is focused on ExpressionEngine design as a whole, including design-related issues with CSS, XHTML, and EE tags.  (By the way, since I am learning all that stuff myself, I hope to get good submissions, comments, and content from the site’s users—hint, hint!)

The old design was put together rather quickly just to get the site going.  Once it got off the ground, I decided to redesign the site, not just to make it more aesthetically pleasing, but also more functional.  I am very pleased with the result and I hope you are as well.

Here are the highlights of the new features and design changes:

  • A navigation bar across the header for quick access to various parts of the site

  • A complete archive page rather than archive links in the sidebar

  • Since the templates are an important feature of this site, I have created a “Templates Quicklist” at the top of the sidebar that will contain a flat list of all the templates available on this site

  • A “Sites” page where I would like to provide a list of links to websites that have used one of the templates on this site so others can see how these templates can be implemented

  • A less-cluttered sidebar as compared to the old site

  • Cleaner “Login/Logout” button in the navigation bar which changes depending on if you are logged in or logged out

  • The site is now much more browser compatible, although I cannot guarantee it works with legacy browsers (Netscape 4, I’m looking at you)

  • And, depending on user feedback, a user forum

The old site is still up for the time being until I can get it properly redirected.  However, everything on EE Design is live so please update your bookmarks, feeds, etc.

In the meantime, please check things out and let me know what you think.
