Trifecta

Trifecta is a new 3-column EE template, featuring left and right fixed-width sidebars and a flexible center content column that resizes with the browser window.  Like the Simple template, Trifecta has a plain default style, all ready to be customized by the end user.  Additionally, also like the Simple template, Trifecta has some extra features not found in the standard EE templates.

Here are some of the built-in features of this template:

* 3 columns - left and right fixed width columns, and a flexible center column that resizes with browser window




* Comment and trackback permalinks are already set up, as are anchors to the comment and trackback sections themselves




* The “tell-a-friend” feature is already set up and when clicked, a pop-up box appears so users can email articles to their friends




* Multiple categories are separated by commas, such as “Posted in Blogging, Personal, Web”




* “No comments yet” is displayed if no comments have been posted (same goes with Trackbacks)




* Comments and trackbacks are aggregated into the entry’s permalink page, rather than on separate templates




* A contact form is already set up and included




* The “more” link to an extended entry is all set up




* The header, footer, and both side columns are contained in separate embedded templates to make it easy to make a change and have it automatically reflected on all pages




* Little CSS tweaks, like bordered blockquotes, are already done




* XHTML and CSS valid

I’ve gone ahead and included all the necessary templates, even the RSS and Atom templates, other than the “member” and “search” templates, which you should have from your first EE blog setup.  Full installation instructions are included in the zip file, which you can download here.

Added {assign_variable:template_group_name=”trifectatemplate”} at top of each template to control template group name; revised README to describe this variable.  This makes it easier to install if your blog shortname and your template group have different names.  Download recommended.
